| 43d Cavalry Recon. Co Rhode Island Nat. Guard Approved on Oct. 17, 1942. A rectangular patch with a silver anchor on the background. On top is a scarlet wheel with seven spokes and a gold color ferret's head. Around the upper wheel is the motto in yellow lettering. The wheel indicates mechanization, the red color symbolical of the unit being made up from Field Atrillery. The ferret's head is symbolical of "hunting out" and patience, while the anchor represents the state of activation, Rhode Island. The motto reads: "We'll Be There". Campaigns: Guadalcanal, New Guinea, Northern Solomons, Luzon. |

| 118th Quartermaster Bat. 43d Infantry Division Approved on Oct. 8, 1942. The shield is split breadthwise in the colors of asure and buff. On the foreground, a motor wheel. The motto reds: "Inserviamus", ( Let us serve ). The blue and buff shield with the wheel indicates that the unit is a Quartermaster transportation orginization. Headquarters originally organized on June 9, 1937 at West Hartford, Connecticut, while other companys were also organized in Maine, Vermont and Rhode Island in the late 1930's. After induction in 1942, the regiment was broken up in Feb. of 1943. C Co. was redesignated as the 142nd QM, D Co. was redesignated as the 185th QM.
